Date: 10 February 2026

Location: Istituto Ipsia Pocognoni, Matelica, Italy (Marche region)

Attendance: ~150 participants (secondary schools)

As part of the Tool4MEDlife project, nutrition education sessions were held at secondary schools with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle and a balanced diet that is sustainable for both people and the planet.

The students took turns participating in theoretical and practical activities such as:

  • Creating their own food pyramid and improving it based on Mediterranean diet principles
  • Organising food in the fridge and pantry for proper storage and to reduce food waste
  • Reading food labels
  • Recognising different types of cereals and pulses
  • Putting together a balanced breakfast
  • Identifying the seasonality and origin of food

The programme aimed to provide practical tools to encourage young people to develop a more informed and independent relationship with food.
