Incontri di educazione alimentare – Primary Schools

Nutrition education programme

Date: 26 November and 3 December 2025
Location: Istituto Comprensivo Ugo Betti, Camerino, Italy (Marche region)
Attendance: ~30 participants (primary schools)

As part of the Tool4MEDlife project, nutrition education sessions were held at lower secondary schools with the aim of introducing pupils to the principles of a balanced diet and teaching them to make informed food choices.

The reference models for nutrition education chosen for this programme were the Mediterranean Diet Food Pyramid, which helps to visualise the frequency of consumption of different food groups, and the Healthy Plate from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, a practical guide to putting together a balanced meal.

The students were then engaged in practical and interactive activities such as reading and analysing food labels and putting together a balanced breakfast.

The programme aimed to provide practical tools to encourage young people to take their first steps towards a more informed approach to nutrition.
