New foods and educational toolkits for a healthy and sustainable mediterranean lifestyle.
The Tool4MEDLife board games were developed to promote Mediterranean Diet literacy through playful, social and interactive learning experiences. They are designed to make food education more engaging by combining knowledge, reflection, collaboration and friendly competition.
The board game toolkit includes two complementary games: Mediterranean Challenge and Food Market.
Mediterranean Challenge is an original trivia-based educational board game developed within the Tool4MEDLife project. It helps players learn about the Mediterranean Diet through questions, challenges and collaborative construction of the Mediterranean Diet pyramid.
The game is structured around four thematic areas:
The game includes three difficulty levels, making it adaptable for children, adolescents and adults.
Children, adolescents, adults, educators and families.
Food Market is an adapted educational board game focused on building a healthy shopping basket. Players collect food items from different categories while learning to distinguish balanced choices from less healthy options. Within Tool4MEDLife, the game was adapted to reflect Mediterranean Diet principles, including the importance of plant-based foods, legumes, fruits and vegetables, healthy beverages and balanced food combinations.
Children, adolescents, educators and families.
Together, Mediterranean Challenge and Food Market offer playful and accessible ways to introduce Mediterranean Diet principles, stimulate discussion and support active learning in both formal and informal educational contexts.
